- This walk was my favorite due to it's concept of providing a little success. I love the title and the titles throughout that coordinate with the polaroids. I like the intention of the walk and how it invites you to be with your thoughts for a moment, it also may bring you out of your comfort zone. I like that it was easy to guide yourself through but it did require a bit of looking, so not too easy. The tiny card at the end that is labelled 'a little success' was nice to have a physical validation and also very cute. I felt good on this walk and would do it again.

Ariel Part 2
- Some fingers: How did the box make you feel? The design (or not design of it), the colors used, the textures, the care, things that went with it? It made me feel good, but it also made me feel nervous because I had to wave at someone. I liked how they put envelopes in there for the instructions, but the kicker was the pictures that guided me to the next step. They are really great pictures! How did the instructions work? Where they hand-written, printed, digitally recorded? what kind of paper was used? Did it change the way you felt about participating with the piece? The instructions were hand-written, but there was also a picture or two or three in each envelope to show me where to walk to. I felt great from the start, and that didn’t change for the rest of the piece. Where did the box take you? Where you confused getting there? Or was that part of the journey? It took me down to the crosswalk on Spring Garden from STAC, then across the way to Foust (I think that’s the name), then to the flag and a reserved parking sign to the left at that little parking lot, and then back to the tree that has a bench sitting in front of it. What happened when you got a place? Were you asked to participate, listen, look, dig, climb, think? When I got to the crosswalk, I was asked to wait for 3 cars to go by, then to press the walk button. While waiting, I was supposed (heavy emphasis on “supposed”) to wave at someone walking towards the crosswalk, but I didn’t. When I walked across, I had to count my steps. I think I took 6 or 7 since my legs are long and I walked fast. Then, I got to the Reserved Parking sign and had to write my deepest desire on a sticky note, and then place it on the panel under the sign. Afterwards, I had to reflect on it and my surroundings (the parking lot). So, I just thought about my daughter and how I want to take my graduation pictures with her on College Ave in November. Lastly, I had to go to the bench in Foust Park that sits in front of that big tree that is behind that Reserved Parking sign. I sat on it for 20 seconds, looked behind me at the entrance to the tree, and went in. I had to relax for 5 minutes and draw something on the piece of paper that was wrapped around the tree within that 5 minutes. IT WAS VERY RELAXING! I know I said on my other reflection paper that there weren’t many insects around, but I remember now that I could hear the sounds of some insects, as well as birds chirping. It was serene. The view through the leaves and the branches were captivating. I don’t know why I didn’t go there more often just to breathe and/or study! Was there any magic or surprises? It felt like magic at the tree. Like, I’ve always known it was there, but I never took the opportunity to actually make use of it in the way that this project did and probably other students. What came with the box? Instructions in 5 envelopes, crayons, sanitizing wipes, and sticky notes all came with the box. What part(s) were not so interesting or engaging? Why? too long? Wanted more? To complicated? I really don’t think there was anything about the box that wasn’t interesting. What was the nugget of amazingness you got from this experience? Tell us more! I just felt relaxed from the long drive to Greensboro, and I just felt like me. I was happy! The mini photoshoot that I took while under the tree made me feel pretty. Sometimes, I don’t feel pretty. I love how my orange shirt looked with the green leaf background. What else do you have to say about the experience? Did it reveal anything? Expand your consciousness? change your ideas about art? Inspire new ideas? It really expanded and confirmed my existing ideas about art and inspired new ideas. Art is so expansive. It can literally be anything. We really do and always will need art within this growing and changing world. I’ll probably take Azalea to the tree now and will definitely take a graduation picture there! Did it make you hungry? Or tired? Or perhaps gave your energy? This walk definitely gave me energy, but I was hungry while taking it since I hadn’t eaten anything yet . Final fingers? I think it’s similar to Briana and I’s experience kit because it has a mindfulness touch to it.

- Ariel Hewlin March 24, 2021 My Experience with an EXPERIENCE KIT I went on an experience of success using the experience kit created by Laura and her partner whom I can’t name because I don’t know. Firstly, I thought it was lovely. They took me on a picture tour of campus to guide me to the next step. I think the pictures are really nice. Maybe they can submit their experience kit to The Coraddi? Also, how amazing is it that the instruction envelopes were the same color as my shirt today? Their kit took me out of my comfort zone. I had to wave at someone walking up to the crosswalk, but I didn’t because she was looking down with her headphones in. She was wearing a blue sweatshirt with black biker shorts on, seeming as if she was cold since the wind is blowing. I giggled, “Nah. I’m not doing that,” while shaking my head. Then I was taken to a reserved parking sign in which I had to write my deepest desire on a sticky note, place it on the panel, and reflect about my note and the surrounding parking lot. Lastly, I went to the shade tree in the park with the bench in front of it, sit on the bench for 20 seconds, go under the tree, and draw something while resting for 5 minutes. It was a very relaxing 5 minutes and 20 seconds. I won’t say what I drew though, but I will say that I used the blue crayon (my favorite color is….). I also did a mini photoshoot with myself! I sat down on one of the roots too. There are surprisingly little to no insects at that tree (LOL).
