Lee Walton, Caitlyn Schrader, and kt williams were invited to lead a reinterpretation of Meshroom, a captivating fusion of art, dance, music, technology, and social interaction, crafted in collaboration with Duke University Arts.
Drawing inspiration from the original choreographic frameworks of Japanese dance artists Marika Niko and Leo Ryan, Meshroom immerses participants in a sensory journey where interactive sounds, responsive light technology, large-scale projection mapping videos, mesh kit installation, and movement offerings create layers of depth to their experience.
This two-hour event showcases the talents of 12 invited movement, sound, and new media artists, alongside the collaborative efforts of over 25 community co-creators. By shattering the boundaries between performer, creator, and spectator, Meshroom emphasizes process over product, fostering a fluid, dreamlike atmosphere conducive to exploration and active participation.
Guiding this unique rendition of Meshroom are co-facilitators Teresa Heilman and Savannah Jenkings, ensuring a seamless integration of creativity and collaboration.
