Introduction

For your final assignment, you’ll design a 4-page website using HTML and CSS while collaborating with AI tools (such as Perplexity, Deepseek, Microsoft Copilot, or ChatGPT) or a classmate for guidance.


Assignment Steps

1. Plan Your Website

  • Choose a topic.

  • Outline the 4 pages (e.g., Home, About, Services, Contact)

2. Folder Organization (Main Folder)

  • Main folder (Directory) must be organized 

  • dedicated folders for images, css
  • index (home page) and additional pages titled correctly

3. Design & Layout

  • Select fonts, colors, and an overall style.

  • Ensure consistent branding across all pages.

4. Build with HTML & CSS

  • Structure each page with headers, navigation, and footers.

  • Use AI tools or peer collaboration to refine your CSS styling and troubleshoot issues.

5. Add Content & Media

  • Write original text and integrate images/videos.

  • Use AI suggestions to optimize content placement and readability.

6. Enhance Functionality

  • Experiment with interactive elements (e.g., menus, forms, buttons).

  • Use AI to help with coding efficiency and functionality.

Example AI Prompt:
"Help me create a responsive navigation menu for [your page titles]."


Grading Criteria

  • Functionality & Design (50%)

    • Proper use of HTML and CSS

    • Clean, responsive, and consistent design

    • Organized Folder (your Directory)
  • Effort (30%)

    • Thoroughness and creativity in design and content

    • Attention to detail and consistency

  • AI/Peer Collaboration (20%)

    • Evidence of meaningful collaboration with AI tools or classmates

    • Improved functionality or design as a result of collaboration


Submission Instructions

  1. Compress your project folder (HTML, CSS, images) into a .zip file.

  2. Email your submission to lmwalton@uncg.edu with the subject line:
    "Web Design Project – [Your Name]"

  3. Share how you collaborated with a partner (AI or real person)
